i am a twenty-three year old darling girl.
i am not married, i have no children, and i didn't graduate from college. but..
i draw birds and robots; i read books; i laugh till i cry; i love until my heart bursts; i sometimes paint my face or arms with stripes if i'm bored; i create; i play guitar.
i am not impressive, but i am me.
These are all just mostly vague details. If you want me, come find me. But, I promise, at the very least, you'll think I'm nice.
(and i like a lot of things).

titled "how to become a soy-free vegan and not feel horribly alone (or attempt to kill yourself.) (or hide in the pantry with the door shut so no one can hear you crying.)"
seriously.
i had to call maika last night because i had no idea what i was doing. he's not a vegan anymore, but he does like to eat healthy, and when he was, he didn't eat soy.
but seriously, i mean, it's overwhelming when you know what's bad for you.
dairy is bad, meat is bad, refined sugar is bad, refined or processed anything is bad, chemically changed food is bad, ....seriously, i could go on and on.
so then it's like, "maybe i'll eat some peanut butter....---nope, can't it has soy lecithin, hydrogenated oils, and a bunch of stuff i can't pronounce. plus, it's not organic. okay, fine. so maybe, a salad? salads are good. oh but wait, dressing is bad. it's full of sugar, bad oils, and it's loaded with fat and probably has animal by-product in it. crap. okay.. well, refried beans are *okay* so, what about that with some cheese? wait. cheese is dairy. dairy is bad. just refried beans? maybe not..."
seriously. that's about when i started to cry. i mean, when you know it's garbage and poison it's hard to overlook it and eat it anyway. i mean, easing into it would be nicer, but that's like saying "well, i'm only going to eat half a garbage sandwich and then a piece of fruit." ... i don't want ANY garbage sandwiches anymore!
so, this is kind of what dinner looked like.
also, this picture is for the strong-stomached only. beware!

yikes. okay, let me tell you what that is.
'cause it looked like someone threw up on my stir fry.
it's broccoli, peas, and green beans cooked in some olive oil (but not at too high of a heat, otherwise you'll kill the enzymes and make them garbage) and seasoned with celery seed, garlic salt, orange peel, a little thyme, lemon pepper, and....something else, but i can't remember what. maika was guiding me through stuff. then i was going to put some pineapple in it, but we didn't have any, so i went with peach applesauce.. hence the "thrown up on" look.
then it was put over rice.
admittedly it was pretty okay. but it still tasted like i just seasoned a bunch of veggies and less of a meal. i mean, you could go to a thai restaurant, and order some veggie stir fry and it would be a meal. mine didn't work out so well.
so after maybe ten bites or so, i gave up and just ate a bunch of m&m's at the logic that you can spell "garbage" with the letters in "green beans, broccoli, and peas" but not with the letters "m&m".
i win, universe.
anyway. so i was really close to giving up. and i still might in a small sense. i mean, meat protein still isn't that good for you body, and it's harder to digest and take in nutrients than vegetable protein, but if you can get free-range, grass fed meat, then it's not necessarily *bad* for you.
most of it is the hormones, chemicals, and the fact that they feed
cow's blood to calves. but hey, it's better than when they'd feed cow meat to cows, right? neat, huh?
but i'm not sure what to do otherwise. all of the cooking books i've seen don't offer any recipes without soy.
now, i'm still getting a few people that are telling me that soy is perfectly okay in small amounts.
while that may be true, that's like saying, "oh, this poison won't kill you in small amounts."
....mm..kay.
i mean, it's been linked to a
slew of bad things, but even if it is perfectly okay, i don't feel like risking it any further. "small amounts of soy" are already in things you probably didn't even know it was. peanut butter, bread... i'm forgetting the rest.
anyway. it just doesn't seem like a good idea.
it's like when people try to justify doing bad things because in small amounts it's not going to send them to hell. you know, that one night of being drunk, that one night stand, the one time they all got high. ugh.
i feel like i'm preaching from a high horse here.
i'm sorry, i really don't mean it like that.
it's just madness out in the world and then it all got crazier.
i mean, the FDA is supposed to be married to Truth, and it's instead sleeping with Money in a bed of lies. the FDA is run by the companies they're supposed to be regulating. ugh. it's just awful.
dude. whoa. i got mega sidetracked.
so back to the food i was making and how bad it was...
this morning was a little easier.
and tastier.

stove cooked oatmeal with some brown sugar and blueberries, and a whole wheat banana muffin with peanut butter.
i finished the oatmeal, but it's hard getting through the banana muffin. i'm just not a banana girl. but i'm trying.
anyway. i'm proud of myself for breakfast at least. i did very well. and granted it's not 100% awesome, you do have to start out small. hopefully we'll get some unrefined sugar, and some organic peanut butter. but this will suffice until then.
and then i'm also making a list of easy breakfasts that i like that are soy free.
so far its:
-the oatmeal + blueberries + brown sugar
-peanut butter on whole wheat toast
-zucchini muffins (yumm.)
-organic ceral with almond milk. (little harder for me to adjust to. rice milk was okay but it was vanilla.. and i'm not used to vanilla milk. but the almond milk is plain. which is interesting..)
-bananas and strawberries, or other berries. (berries are SO good for you! antioxidants!)
i figured i can come up with a few more and then cycle through them until i find something better.
anyway.
i'm sorry my blogs aren't more interesting anymore.
they're all about either work or eating healthy.
but that's kind of what life is like for me right now.
i love you, blogland.
be well :)
