i always wanted to be a tenenbaum
you, know?
i am a twenty-three year old darling girl.
i am not married, i have no children, and i didn't graduate from college. but..
i draw birds and robots; i read books; i laugh till i cry; i love until my heart bursts; i sometimes paint my face or arms with stripes if i'm bored; i create; i play guitar.
i am not impressive, but i am me.
i am addicted to Jesus Christ. He never stops loving, never stops giving, and there is always more of Him. He is the perfect addiction. no one else can satisfy.
These are all just mostly vague details. If you want me, come find me. But, I promise, at the very least, you'll think I'm nice.

things i have to stop doing:
- watching eternal sunshine of the spotless mind once a day. (i bought it on itunes, so i could be distracted and calm for my first plane flights, but also got shipped a new hard copy since i accidentally lost mine somehow. not sure how that's possible when it's my most favorite movie.)
- falling in pretend love with strangers. (i.e. - the art student walking down the street while we were heading to union square. or the guy that worked at trader joe's. or that friend of mine that looks fabulous in a cardigan.) i must put an end to this. it's getting sillier by the minute!
- enabling myself to be weak/a victim. i am in control of how i feel. it's cliche by now, but eleanor roosevelt (i think) said, "no one can make you feel inferior without your consent." so it's going to be hard. especially when i'm emotionally stuck as a child, so my response to things is childish most of the time. (plus i'm an enfp. so, that doesn't help much.) but everything is up to me. i have value in God's eyes, in my dad's eyes, and they both are proud of me. though i may not carry much success by the standards of our world, my treasures are stored up in heaven. and by this, i am more empowered to be more secure in myself than ever before. it's not easy, though. it's like completely reprogramming your head to do the exact opposite of what it wants to do. my knee-jerk reaction is to be insecure. but my identity in Christ has no room for insecurities. when you know the truth, there is no room for lies.
- eating black cocoa dusted almonds from trader joe's like their going out of style. seriously. it's my second box. i just dig crunchy things. heck, i'd eat autumn leaves if they tasted good. gotta love a good crunch.
- not following through. i have to make sure that i respect myself enough to stick to my word. i WILL have money in my savings account. i WILL get out of debt. and iowa, i WILL return this fall as a student. and in four-five + years, i WILL have TWO degrees. ...i will also.. be ... married? question mark? sorry. can't make that promise. but it would be lovely.
- being scared of adventure. san francisco has ignited a flame inside me. i'm not sure i'm the "traveler" i thought i'd be, but i want to go back. i want to fly again. i want to visit anywhere and everywhere. provided there's a person or a reason, i'm game for anything. even somewhere seemingly lame. (like i thought SF would be, admittedly.)
things i have to start doing:
- paint more.
- draw more.
- write more.
- play guitar more. (which would be much easier if i had a functional guitar. i want to sell mine and get a new/used one.)
- play piano more.
- finish learning japanese and french like i told myself i was going to. (see stop doing #5 for follow through.) throw into the mix russian, hebrew, chinese and icelandic. i find foreign languages so completely interesting and compelling. but classes aren't easy for me to learn and cds are even harder. conversation partners are where i learn the best.
- actually listening to my alarm and getting out of bed. apparently my problem with authority carries over to electronics as well. psh. it's not the boss of me. i do what i want. i'm quite the rebel at 7 a.m., watch out.
i think that's all so far.
you know what's a lovely function? google analytics.
it's not super invasive, but i do get to see how many people read my blogs and where they're from. so, my darling creepers, you can at least leave a comment. 'cause i know you're here anyway. and even if it's not by name or face, i adore that you're here.
it's nice to know someone's listening.
love,
Jeska.

And My people will be satisfied with My goodness," declares the LORD.
